a few Ontario gigs this week…

I realize that this site has been kind of dormant for the last while, but keeping it updated is one of my new years resolutions for 2004! Kidding - I know what year it is. Anyway - I’ve got the following shows this week:

Wednesday, January 20 - Belfountain Inn (Caledon)
Thursday, January 21 - This Aint Hollywood (Hamilton)
Saturday, January 23 - Mono Cliffs Inn (Orangeville)

I’ve got some more solo shows in February in Alberta and in BC in March, which I’ll post in a week or 2 when I have all the details.

Ooops! Wrong date!

It has been brought to my attention (thank you, Christina) that I’ve listed the wrong date for the Grapes Of Wrath acoustic gig in White Rock. It will not be on Friday, September 11 (as listed), but will be on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 (so if you have tickets for Friday, September 11, then you’re totally insane because no such tickets exist). Both tonight’s show in Chilliwack and tomorrow’s in Kelowna have been sold out for several weeks but there are still tickets available for Saturday.

Grapes Of Wrath Acoustic Shows in September!

Tom and I are heading out to play a few acoustic gigs in September - the first time we’ve done any touring together since 2001!  Check the “upcoming gigs” section of this site for details:

Been a long time….

…since my last update (May 25!?!). I’m going to keep this a lot more up to date over the next few months of touring. “Touring you say?” some of you might be saying. Yes! Touring! More on that later…

Between my last update and early July I was out on the road playing guitar with Leeroy Stagger and the Wildflowers. The tour went really well - especially our Toronto showcases, resulting in our being picked up by the Paquin Agency - and the band just keeps getting better and better. We’ll be out again starting September 12, doing western Canada for a couple of weeks, then off to Europe for the month of October (mostly German dates) and then back in Canada to play gigs in Ontario and Quebec starting November. I’ll get dates posted here soon.

I’m in Lethbridge, Alberta today…

Leeroy, Kevin, and Tyson @ Doc'sWe’re 4 shows into Leeroy Stagger’s “Everything Is Real” tour and it’s a blast - an honor and a pleasure to be playing great music with great players/people. Last night we did a full-band acoustic set opening for Danny Michel. It was a great night all around and I’m pleased to say I’ll be opening for Danny again tonite but doing my own stuff. If fact, I’m going to be opening the next week’s worth of Leeroy shows as well.

The dates are:

Monday - May 25 - The Slice (Lethbridge, AB) - opening for Danny Michel

Tuesday, May 26 - The Royal (Nelson, BC) - opening for Leeroy Stagger (then playing in his band)

Wednesday, May 27 - Fibbinacci’s (Penticton, BC) - opening for Leeroy…

Thursday, May 28 - The Habitat (Kelowna, BC) - opening for Leeroy…

Friday, May 29 - The Railway Club (Vancouver, BC) - opening for Leeroy…

Saturday, May 30 - Logan’s (Victoria, BC) - opening for Leeroy…

And check out Leeroy’s myspace page for full tour dates.

A Few Video Links

I’ve posted links to 3 songs from my performance last Saturday at the Wellington Centre For The Performing Arts in Orangeville (yes - it’s a house. But it’s a hobbit house!). Enjoy!  You can watch them on the Audio&Video Page.

Between Tours

Kevin playing live

I’m home and have access to my computer for a couple of days between the final show last Saturday of my solo tour of Ontario (and a bit of Quebec) and the first gig this coming Thursday, playing guitar on Leeroy Stagger’s Canadian tour. I’ll also be opening some of the Leeroy shows, such as in Vancouver and Victoria. I’ll try and post them as I find out, but you can check out the tour overall on Leeroy’s myspace site.

I had a great time on tour and I want to thank first and foremost Warren Muzak and Amanda Brewer of Two Twenty Two: they set up 6 of the shows, opened for me and got me to the gigs, and gave me a place to sleep afterward. Same to Rishi Dhir of Montreal’s Elephant Stone who had me on the bill for their Toronto and Montreal CD release shows and lined up my solo gig in Montreal. Not only that, but Rishi and ES drummer Chris learned a set’s worth of my songs - new and old - and I had the chance to play the two Elephant Stone gigs in my favorite band format: the mighty power trio! And thanks to Darryl and Tracy and the fine folks of Orangeville for making me feel so welcome at their festival.

Leaving On A Jet Plane…

…in less than 12 hours for my Ontario and Quebec shows w/ Two Twenty Two or Elephant Stone (dates in the gig section) and I feel like Ed Grimley in “The Boy Who Couldn’t Wait For Christmas”. One thing: I’m not bringing a computer w/ me on the road I shall be twittering (groan) from my annoying phone for the next 2 months or so…which is probably about how long it’ll still be a “thing” before the next “thing” comes along. Yay twitter! You can find me at MrKevinKane. I will try my best to be a credit to the twitter community.

Okanagan down - Ontario here I come…

Thanks to all who came out to the Osoyoos, Kelowna, and Penticton shows this week. And especially to Christina for joining me on vocals and cello - we don’t play together nearly enough. But I’m stoked about flying out to Toronto tomorrow and I guess I’d better do some packing…

Rehearsal in Penticton…

I’ve got a few Okanagan shows this week and am extremely stoked that Christina Zaenker will be joining me for them. She did the awesome background vocalizing and cello playing on my album and it’s always an honor and a pleasure when I get to play with her. So we spent yesterday afternoon rehearsing at the Penticton Art Gallery (which was closed - thanks for letting us do that, Paul!) playing in the very same lovely tea room we’ll be playing in on Saturday, with that inspiring view of the lake behind us…sun setting…etc.

Those dates again (for you Okanaganites):

Wednesday, April 29: Breezes Grill in Osoyoos
Thursday, April 30: Minstrel Cafe in Kelowna
Saturday, May 2: Penticton Art Gallery
