Tales From The Deep Estate
So, I’ve always loved how The Expanse had a novella between the main novels, and I’ve always wanted to do the same. It just so happens that I also conveniently have all these self-contained Case Files sitting on my desk. They’re full of Anomalous Objects, Cryptids, Apocalyptic near-misses and all the times Reality generally shat a brick, and I figured we could release a few of them as short stories.
Naturally, Carrie heard, “Let’s write a short story,” and the quickie turned into a tantric hundred-page novella we’ll be releasing in parts right here.
The first Case File, Vibe-Hound, revolves around an Anomalous Meme (yes, meme) that takes over a University of Kansas library with truly gruesome results. If you’re a fan of eyeballs, especially eyeballs that stay nice and snug inside their eye sockets, you’re going to absolutely love this story.
