When they make a show like cow boy bee bop they make thease things called story boards. Theirs happened to be from a cartoon. Y'all would have complained if the clothes did not match.
In the future when Akira is made into live action,
No, they did not use the anime as the storyboards. They certainly payed homage to the anime with several shots, but even then they were weirdly flat compared to the Anime scene they were copying
I watched the bee bop cartoons and then the live action. I did not have 20 years of fan boy want built up. The live action is the best show Netflix has ever made.
You fanboys screwed it up by complaining. There second season was to be all new material.
I have many issues with the Cowboy Bebop adaptation, but none of them are the usual “fanboy” complaints. They were all complaining that Faye Valentine’s iconic costume had been altered and that she wasn’t showing enough skin. One of my issues is that they doggedly stuck to their original anime looks throughout the series.
IMHO, the show would’ve been fine if it wasn’t named Cowboy Bebop, the same way Brad Pitt’s would’ve been a great zombie movie if it wasn’t named WWZ.

I'm sure you will be disappointed again.

Hay thanks for being a sport and letting me vent.
